2. Go to NOREDINK- log in with Google and create an account
3. Complete the "Subject+Verb" agreement quiz. This is as much of a quiz of your knowledge as it is of my and my ability to properly set-up internet based learning tools.
4. Below is an outline of the semester. Please take a few minutes and red over what we will be doing over the next 18 week:
- Semester Outline
-2 argumentative essays
- 4 weeks to work on these (readings and pre-writing)
- 1 week to wrap up the writing
- 3 days to revise after the work has been graded
- 2 units of independent study
- 3 weeks to investigate a topic, write claim/counterclaim paragraphs, peer edit, revise, and submit to me for feedback and a grade
- SSR
- You will select and independent book to read
- Start and end the week with SSR
- Complete a book log and a book talk (date TBA)
- Grammar
- Start the week with grammar
- Work on different skills
- Quiz at the end of each unit
- Quizzes can always be revised
- Vocab
- End the week with vocab
- 3 words for 3 weeks (various activities with those words)
- Quiz over 6 words after 6 weeks
- Quizzes are cumulative (meaning you will have a quiz over 6,12,and 18 words throughout the semester)
5. Your task: Independent Research Project:
- Select a social issue you want to investigate for the next few weeks. List of issues (you can pick anything you want-even if it is not on the list)
- Complete the Article #1-Comprehension Activity
